Please Don’t Flush Wipes

As our community works to sanitize our homes and businesses due to Covid-19, the Public Works Department wants to remind residents that disinfecting wipes and paper towels need to be disposed of along with household garbage and are not to be flushed down the toilet.

Wipes, paper towels, and similar products do not break down like toilet paper and are not designed for the public sanitary sewer system. They can cause clogging, backups, and overflows. Even wipes labeled flushable will interfere with sewage collection and treatment.

Unfortunately, the City’s sewer system is already being negatively effected by wipes and similar products that are being flushed. Please be wise and throw away not flush away.
